Every Colorado Academy student is an artist.

Arts are a central part of every school day.

They are core to our mission, which values creativity as one of the essential skills we hope each of our graduates takes with them. The artistic habits we emphasize at every age—patience, courage, adaptability, persistence, expression, self-direction, and joy—ensure these fundamental human traits ground everything we do.

Arts By Division

CA offers courses of artistic study for all students, emphasizing exposure for the new learner, as well as advanced programs of study for those seeking a professional path in college and beyond.

Lower School

From Pre-K–Grade 5, our young creators work with experienced art and music teachers to explore a range of media and techniques as part of their daily schedule. Special events like The Big Draw, Pre-K–Grade 8 Arts Showcase, Grade 4 and 5 Choir concerts, recitals, and the All-School Arts Festival celebrate creativity all year.

Middle School

When they reach Middle School, students may explore a range of disciplines as part of their daily arts rotation, including vocal music, instrumental performance groups, ceramics, theater, dance, studio art, photography, and computer science/engineering/design.

Upper School

Upper School students in Grades 9-12 have the opportunity to specialize in an artistic area of their choice, but it is not unusual for a student to concentrate in more than one art form. The approach to study is twofold: elective classes open to all students, and advanced courses of study for students who wish to pursue the arts in college or in greater depth.
