The CA Board of Trustees voted to create the Alumni Association in December of 1964. Since that time, there has been a devoted Alumni Board, led through those decades by 29 Alumni Board Presidents. At the behest of trustees, the Alumni Board President serves alongside trustees as an ex-officio member. The Colorado Alumni Association is over 50 years strong!
The first Alumni Board President was L. Warner Weiss ’61. The first Alumni Director was former CA Teacher Garven Dalglish. John Sullivan '64 was the first editor of the Alumni Quarterly magazine. The Alumni Board is credited with initiating Alumni-Varsity sporting competitions, initially football, with the Alumni Team as the victors in 1966. Other Board initiatives are CA’s college freshman care package program, an annual homecoming breakfast, the annual Skating Party, Alumni Career Panel, and a strong presence at CA’s Giant Relay Day.
Over the years, the alumni have contributed hundreds of thousands dollars to future generations of CA students by supporting new facilities, giving to financial aid, and boosting the CA Fund. Additionally, many alumni are members of the Musil Society by leaving a legacy gift to Colorado Academy.
