How to Apply to Lower School
Grades 1 through 5

We welcome your interest in Colorado Academy and look forward to getting to know you and your family. If you are interested in the 2018-2019 school year, the first step to starting the process is to call 303-914-2513 to arrange for a campus tour.

There is so much to see on CA's campus in the Spring: whether it's the Pre-K Festival, the All-School Art Show, senior music recitals, Middle School capstone projects, third grade poetry readings, the fifth grade rocket launch, post-season tennis soccer, baseball, golf and lacrosse games, the Upper School musical, Giant Relay Day...and more!  The Admission Office is offering "Drop-In Tours" on the following days:

9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018
9:00 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2018

There's no need to RSVP but, if you do want to let us know you're coming, you are welcome to email Paige Siemers.

  • APPLICANT TESTING

For Applicants to Grades K-5, one of the following tests is required:
    • Differential Ability Scales (DAS), or
    • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WPPSI for K or WISC for 1-5), or
    • ISEE exam is an option for Grade 5 applicants only; the ISEE may be taken in lieu of cognitive testing.  Register at www.iseetest.org (please see APPLICANT TESTING for Grades 6-12 for more information).
Families may use an evaluator of their own choice and request that the results be sent directly to Colorado Academy, or choose one of the evaluators from the Denver Area Testing Consortium. This testing is a cognitive assessment conducted on a one-to-one basis and is not designed to be a comprehensive evaluation, but rather a screening for admission purposes.   The DATC fee is $170; please call us at 303-914-2513 to request assistance if the fee is a hardship.

  • FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION

Separate online forms are required for admission and financial aid, though the application cycles overlap. We recommend starting the Financial Aid process after January 1, and completing the process by February 15, 2018, to be considered in the first round of Financial Aid decisions.  Families applying after the February 15 deadline will be considered for the Financial Aid waitlist.

  • DECISION AVAILABLE | MAR 6 at 4:00 PM MST

The Admission Committee reviews all applications completed by the January 31st deadline.  In conjunction with other Denver area ACIS (Association of Colorado Independent Schools), CA informs families of Lower School admission decisions at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

Please note: students applying after the March 6 notification date will be considered for admission from the wait pool if a space becomes available.  There can be wait pool movement in the spring or summer, and we encourage you to apply if interested.
