Director of Libraries Allison Peters Jensen joined the Colorado Academy community as the Lower School Librarian in 2011, after ten years as a Children’s and Teen Services Librarian at Jefferson County Public Library. She received her BA at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., majoring in French language & literature and sociology. Jensen became the Director of Libraries in 2016 while continuing in her role as Lower School Librarian. Through professional development, she has been focused on the role of libraries in the future. In 2017, she took part in Harvard’s Graduate School of Education program on Library Leadership in the Digital Age. Additionally, with a team from CA, she attended a series of workshops with the global design company IDEO and used the design thinking method to reimagine libraries for the future. Jensen is trained in Responsive Classroom Management and as a Common Sense Media Educator. She is an active member of the Association of Independent School Librarians, having served on the organization’s Board and blogging regularly for them about school library practices. While Jensen can often be found with her nose in a book, she also spends a lot of time camping, hiking, biking, gardening, raising chickens, and walking her dog.
