Lower School Field Day

With Giant Relay Day and Lower School Field Day approaching quickly on Friday, May 17, we want to inform you of some details that you need to know to help your child prepare for the big day.

During our Field Day activities, faculty and staff will escort students from station to station.  In each station, students will find a fun event ranging from traditional games to wacky games of some sort.  There will be no points system or ribbons of any kind awarded. Everyone will be challenged to enjoy the event and do their personal best.  There will be a rest station and water stations set up so that the children will remain hydrated. We will look forward to your return to this fun day in 2024!

Below is a list of guidelines to follow:
  • Send your child to school with sunscreen applied.
  • There will be several hydration stations set up around campus.
  • Your child should also bring their water bottle to school for lunch.
  • Show your Mustang Spirit! Bring a hat in case it is super sunny!
  • Tennis shoes are required, as several running events will take place.
We have our Field Day activities – in the sunshine or the rain! We ask that students come prepared for all kinds of weather!

Parents are invited to join us for the Lower School Field Day activities from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. Parking for parents will be available in the Temporary Lot (past the Welcome Center on the left), along the North Road, in the Lower School Circle, and by Pre-K (at the back of campus). If you join us for this time period, we ask that parents meet classes at stations on the fields (parents should not come to the classrooms).
  • Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade: located on Slater Field
  • Third Grade, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade: location on Newton Field
The classroom teachers will lead each group through the station activities. We encourage parents to cheer for and encourage all students during these events. The Fifth Grade students have organized and will lead a Carnival for Pre-K through Fourth Grade in the afternoon.

Parents may depart at 11:30 a.m. as we end our Field Day events as a Lower School. If you elect to take your child with you at that time, please follow these dismissal guidelines:
  1. Notify the classroom teacher that you are taking the student with you.
  2. Sign out in the Lower School Office with Mrs. Yoder.
The Lower School Field Day events, lunch, and a little downtime are scheduled from 8:10 a.m.–1:00 p.m. From 1:00–3:20 p.m., the Fifth Grade will host a carnival, we will have an opportunity to see a few MS events, and we will enjoy the Giant Relay Race across the campus.

Fifth Graders are leading and sponsoring the carnival beginning at 1:00 p.m. We ask that Fifth Graders remain at school for the day. Lower School dismisses at the regularly scheduled time: 3:20 p.m., and the buses run on a regular schedule.
