Service Members Speak to Students on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, the day to commemorate those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, Colorado Academy had service members come to campus to speak to students.

Marine veteran Sgt. Eric Alva, who became the first Marine injured in the Iraq War and who worked on legislation that helped repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", met with students interested in robotics to discuss his prosthetic leg. He also met with students interested in a military career and with Head of School Dr. Mike Davis’ class, which studies war, terror and leadership.

Lt. Col. James T. Reeman, a member of the Colorado Air National Guard who served in Kuwait and Iraq, spoke with Lower School students about what it’s like to fly a jet plane, teaching them about the history of Veterans Day.

CA alumnus Colin Gumm (CA ’94), who served in the U.S. Army in Kosovo and Iraq, also spoke to Lower School students.

Thank you to these service members who helped recognize Veterans Day at Colorado Academy!
