Service Learning
Tuesday is our FIRST service learning day...it should be a good experience for all.
On Tuesday, Middle Schoolers will have their first community service day of the year. Our goal over the three years is for ALL of our students to experience a wide variety of different types of service opportunities - service to the elderly, to the young, to the homeless, to the community, for the outdoors, etc. etc. Some types of service happen right here on campus and other experiences happen throughout the metro area.
It is only by "trying on" these types of service that young people learn what they are most interested in doing. In this sense, the Middle School is a chance to sample different ways to contribute so that in the Upper School s/he can choose to "specialize" and go deep in their chosen areas of interest.
Service activity leaders (our teachers) will be in touch with you should there be specifics that you should be aware of in advance of next Tuesday. For example, teachers may share that students should dress warmly or wear work gloves, etc. etc. Students will also be aware of what should be brought for their activity.
