Final Exam Week Schedule and Guidelines 2018

Jon Vogels
The Upper School has posted the final exam schedule for students in grades 9-11 for the 2017-2018 school year. Please note that not every class will have a final exam, but if a class does, it will be offered by department in the time slot listed below. Room assignments for each exam will be posted in the Upper School. Any student with approved accommodations to receive extended time on tests will also have extended time on their final exams, and will take their tests in designated spaces with proctors Gabe Bernstein and Liza Skipwith.

Classes that do not have final exams tend to have final projects that are due on the last class day of a particular course. Arts classes, Innovations classes and computer science courses set independent due dates.

Lunch and bus service will run at the usual times on these days. However, students are only required to be on campus during the times they have exams. If a student has driving privileges they may come and go as needed; students without driving privileges must be excused by a parent. Students still playing varsity sports will continue to have practice or games after school.

Note that some students in grades 9-11 will have no academic obligations on Wednesday.

Seniors will be engaged in various activities on- and off-campus as part of their Senior Launch Week activities. Parents and students have received information about that from senior class dean Gabe Bernstein.

Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25
  • On Thursday we will run a shortened schedule of every class, starting at 8:10. After that, there is an Upper School Awards Assembly that students in all grades should attend from 11:00-12:45 in the Theatre. Lunch follows and students may stay after that until the buses leave at 3:45 or until they leave or are picked up.
  • Friday is Giant Relay Day and all students are expected to come to school for a day of fun and activities. An all-school assembly starts the day, then Yearbooks are distributed, and then students and faculty will play games of kickball and dodgeball. A BBQ lunch will be served outside of the Campus Center, followed by more activities. Next, grades 9-11 compete in class relays. Then comes the main event: the Giant Relay that pits seniors against teams of faculty, alumni and parents. School ends at the normal time of 3:30. Students wishing to leave early may leave by car or be picked up by a parent but must be excused.
Any questions should be directed to the grade-level deans.  Good luck to all students as they complete their final assessments!
