Renee Rockford
Colorado Academy's SPEAK lecture program invites parents to a presentation on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. by Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot, sociologist and MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant recipient and Harvard University faculty member since 1972. As an educator, researcher, author, and public intellectual, Lawrence-Lightfoot has written 11 books including The Essential Conversation: What Parents and Teachers Can Learn From Each Other. Parent/teacher conferences take place more than 100 million times a year across our country. Lawrence-Lightfoot examines these crucial dialogs from the perspective of both parents and teachers and shows how these conversations are both a mirror of and metaphor for larger cultural forces that shape the development of our children. The program in CA's Campus Center/ Dining Hall. It is free and open to the community, but RSVPs are required. Please register here.
