Larson Baker Named CHSAA 3A Player of the Year

In addition to making it to the 2017 State Championship game against Liberty Common, falling just one goal short of the state title, the Colorado Academy boys soccer team has received honors from CHSAA. CA Senior Larson Baker was named 3A player of the year, as well as a member of the First Team All-State.

Says Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Gabe Bernstein, “As a senior captain, Larson has demonstrated incredible leadership this season on and off the field. We have witnessed his tremendous work rate and attention to detail in training. Larson's commitment to improving as a dynamic forward in practices have paid off in games, and it's great to see him being recognized in the state of Colorado. He's a humble young man and I am sure this honor will motivate him to work even harder during the off season as he prepares for college soccer at the next level.”

Larson, who is planning on continuing his soccer career at Colorado College, says he was overwhelmed and surprised at receiving the honor.

Says Larson, “The CA men’s soccer program has the ability to change boys into soccer players, and I credit a large part of my success to my dedicated coaches. This honor will forever remind me of my senior season, and all the amazing people who were a part of it.”

Fellow teammate senior Eric Bear was also named to the First Team All-State.

Says Bernstein, “Eric has made tremendous strides this year as a center back, and it comes as no surprise that he's been recognized as a First Team All-State player for his contributions this past fall. He has all the qualities that coaches look for in a central defender and has demonstrated them time and again against top competition in the state of Colorado.  This is a really nice honor for one of the hardest working student-athletes I have ever coached.”
