Mustangs Hit the Ice After More Than 25 Years

In their first time hitting the ice in more than a quarter century, the Colorado Academy ice hockey team faced off against Aspen High School on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Tied with Aspen after the first period, the Mustangs fell to the Skiers 5-3 after three periods.

CA goals were scored by sophomore goalie Simon Lammens, on an empty net delayed penalty situation; junior Christian Stevens on a penalty shot scenario after being dragged down on a breakaway; and senior Jordan Wagner assisted by seniors Sebastian Skipwith and Ren Lubchenco on a power play.

Says CA Director of Athletics Bill Hall, "This may have been the most fun sporting event I've been a part of in my 6-plus years at CA. The effort by the players, for many of whom this was their first organized hockey game, was exceptional. Coach Oystrick and his staff have done a great job getting the team ready for competition. The first game, despite the score, was a tremendous success. The fan base was terrific, they were into the game and fully on board. I couldn't have asked for better support. CA ice hockey is back!"
