Educator, researcher, author, and public intellectual, Lawrence-Lightfoot has written 11 books including The Essential Conversation: What Parents and Teachers Can Learn From Each Other. Parent/teacher conferences take place more than 100 million times a year across our country. Lawrence-Lightfoot examines these crucial dialogues from the perspective of both parents and teachers and shows how these conversations are both mirror of and metaphor for larger cultural forces that shape the development of our children.
