Boys Varsity Soccer Ends Season One Win Short of Championship

The Colorado Academy the Boys Varsity Soccer Team closed out its 2017 season with a hard run at the 3A State Championship title, but fell short in a 0-1 loss to Liberty Common.  Going into the game, CA was the No. 3 seed, and Liberty Common, No.8. The match up with Liberty was the first this year for CA.

Liberty scored early in the first half, and CA's Mustangs worked the rest of the game to even the score. In a tough loss, especially for the nine seniors on the team, it was not to be. Director of Athletics Bill Hall says, "It takes a tremendous amount of work to get to where these boys got. They should be proud of their work and their achievements. They are one of the better teams to play on Firman Field (at CA), and to make it to the State Championship. I'm proud of this group and thankful for their work," he said.

CA advanced to the State Final after another hard-fought contest last week, winning a penalty kick shoot out contest after a double overtime against Kent Denver. Liberty came into the Final having been undefeated at 19-0.  Says Hall, "Congratulations to Liberty Common. The CA boys fought until the end, and I I'm grateful for the work of Coach Gabe Bernstein, his staff, and all the seniors for their efforts. It has been a season full of so many accomplishments and milestones." Click here for game highlights.
