Mustangs Soccer Heads to State Championship

The No. 3 seeded Colorado Academy Mustangs beat the No. 2 seeded Kent Denver Sun Devils tonight. Following two overtimes, the Mustangs won in penalty kicks, 5-4. The winning goal was scored by senior Wyatt Westfall.
 
With a 15-win, 4-loss season, the Boys Varsity Soccer team will now go on to play No. 8 seeded Liberty Common in the State Championship game on Saturday, November 11 at 1 p.m.
 
Says Athletic Director Bill Hall, “It was a battle of two great teams; congrats to both squads. What an unbelievable HS soccer game. Our boys showed great perseverance and grit.They will remember this forever. I look forward to watching them in the championship!
 
CA and Kent last played in the State Semifinals in 2013, when CA beat Kent 1-0, and went on to win the state championship. The Boys Varsity Soccer team has won the state championship 6 times: in 1973, 1974, 1998, 1999, 2012, and 2013.
