Girls Golf Preps for State

Colorado Academy’s Girls Golf Team is headed to State and is one of four strong teams competing for this year’s state title. This after the girls won the regional competition at Battlement Mesa earlier this week by a 12-stroke margin. CA’s Cassie Kneen had a hole in one. The state tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 22 and 23, 2017 at the Broadlands in Broomfield.

Says Coach Beth Folsom,” The event itself was fantastic and a great experience for the girls. Our team is very resilient this year and I’m very impressed with their perseverance and commitment to being the best they can be. We have never had a team that finishes as well as this group. A round of golf can be like a roller-coaster ride, and these girls understand that. They are able to endure the inevitable misfortunes and maintain their focus throughout.”

Among CA’s competitors are seniors Cassie Kneen and Trinity Goderstad who have played at state each year that they have been in high school and have improved each time (3rd, 2nd, 1st place team finishes).  Also on the team are two very strong underclassmen, Caroline and Marie Jordaan. Says Folsom, “It’s a tremendous combination of players for us, and the team chemistry is very similar to our past championship teams of ’07, ’08, and ’16.
