Students H.O.P.E. to Serve Hundreds

Upper School students are about to host one of the most impressive events on the Colorado Academy campus each year—the one-day, student-run service effort that feeds, clothes, and provides holiday gifts and activities for some 1,800 low-income people in Denver. On Saturday, December 3, the more than 100 Upper Schoolers who have been working for months on Students H.O.P.E. will welcome busloads
of people to the CA campus for this year’s event.

Established in 1993, the program and club on campus organizes everything from transportation to flu shots for those who attend. They collect several tons of gently used clothing, as well as purchase diapers, toiletries and holiday gifts to give away.

Co-chairs Ali Altman, Isabel Chandler and Bryce Okazaki have overseen every detail, including managing volunteers, directing fundraising, and purchasing supplies. Last minute donations of clothing, money, and pies are always appreciated.

Say the students, “It takes more than just student dedication to make this event a success.”
