Fall Season Closes for Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball

Colorado Academy’s third-seeded Varsity Boys Soccer Team was knocked out of post-season play by just one point from No. 6 Jefferson Academy in Saturday’s 3A quarter-finals played on Slater Field. The Jefferson Academy Jaguars will go on to play KIPP Collegiate in the state semi-finals.

Head Boys Soccer Coach Gabe Bernstein says, “While today’s result did not go our way, I could not be more proud of how our boys competed until the final whistle. I have to give a lot of credit to Jefferson Academy for their game plan and disciplined defending. We tried to go around, over, and through their back line, but unfortunately, we just did not find the net today. As we graduate only two seniors this year, this experience will only make our young team that much stronger heading into next season.”

CA’s Girls Volleyball Team traveled this weekend to Middle Park High School for CHSAA  Regionals and won 3-2 in its game against Frontier Academy, but then lost to Middle Park to end its season.

CA Director of Athletics Bill Hall says, "With the fall season coming to a close, our student athletes are continuing to build on the work that preceded them. To be a CA varsity athlete takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice. They are learning that to be successful at the highest level.  I'm proud of the volleyball and soccer teams' efforts today. The journey is over for these two teams, but will continue for the underclass students. For sure, the lessons learned this fall will pay dividends in seasons that lay ahead. The fall coaches are to be commended, too. Their hard work is extraordinary."

Competition continues for both Climbing and Ultimate, with CA’s Ultimate Frisbee Team having qualified in games this weekend for Division 1 State Tournament play next weekend at Broomfield Commons.

Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball Team banquets wrap up by mid-November as Basketball meetings and winter sports scrimmages get underway at the end of that week.
