Students H.O.P.E. Gears Up for Record Year

Organizers of the annual Students H.O.P.E. program are gearing up for the annual early December event, seeking clothing and other donations that will help some 2,000 low-income people. Students say they expect this to be a record year for the number of people served.

Students H.O.P.E. provides clothing, flu vaccinations, toiletries, and a hot meal, as well as games, wrapped toys, and pictures with Santa for the kids, all on a single day on the CA campus. This year’s event is set for Saturday, December 3, 2016. More than 100 CA student volunteers take up to three months to plan every aspect of the day — from bus transportation to and from downtown shelters to purchasing diapers, toiletries, and more to give to families.

Upper School students have planned and hosted the event for nearly a quarter century. Not long ago, CA alumnus and H.O.P.E. cofounder, Brian (BJ) Parks ‘96, returned for the 20th annual H.O.P.E. event. He said, “It is amazing to see how this little community service project that a group of us started 20 years ago has grown into such an amazing event. It is incredible to think about all the families that have benefitted from the generosity of the CA community. I say congratulations, and here’s to another 20 years!”

Please drop clothing and other items in bins located in each of the division buildings, as well as CA’s gymnasium. H.O.P.E. volunteers will be available to take your donations on November 9 in the Lower and Upper School drop-off circles.

If you wish to make a financial gift toward the purchase of other items, please click here, or mail a check made out to Students H.O.P.E., 3800 S. Pierce St., Denver, CO 80235.

Also, visit a special Ace Fundraising Day at the ACE Restaurant at 501 E 17th Ave, Denver, CO 80203. ACE will donate 10% of profits from the day’s business to Students H.O.P.E.  Organizers are seeking donations of the following items:
  • Infant and baby clothing
  • Men’s clothing
  • Holiday Decorations
  • Toiletries (sample sizes of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, deodorant)
