Calculator-Racing ‘Mathemagicial’ Headlines LS Math Night

Colorado Academy welcomes the renowned “mathemagician,” Dr. Arthur Benjamin, as part of its Lower School Family Math Night on Thursday, November 3, from 5:45- 7:30 p.m. Benjamin’s presentation will kick off the evening, and it will be followed by a series of hands-on math activities for parents and students.
 
Benjamin combines his love of math and his penchant for magic for this entertaining and inspiring look at mathematics. Benjamin is a Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California. He holds three mathematics degrees from Carnegie-Mellon University and Johns Hopkins University. He has been honored with numerous teaching and mathematics prizes, including two fellowships, and he has been a visiting professor at universities around the world including Oxford. Author of eight books on mathematics, Mudd says his hobbies include playing competitive backgammon, writing parodies, racing calculators and performing magic. Click here to RSVP.
