CA Reveals 2016-2017 Conservatory of Theater Production Plans

Visual and Performing Arts Chair Dr. Julianne De Sal has announced both the coursework and productions for Upper School Students for the 2016-2017 year as part of the new Conservatory of Theater program at CA.
 
The new Conservatory Program includes advanced study in Acting, Directing, and Technical Theater and Design through the extended curriculum following the regular school day. This is the performing company of the school, and actor training is based upon the Sandford Meisner method of scene study. The season of Conservatory productions for 2016-2017 will include four major productions with additional presentations by classes as well as the 24 Play Project next October, which consists of students writing, directing, and performing original theater.
 
Next year’s season includes:
  • November 4-6, 2016; Almost, Maine, a Romantic Comedy by John Cariani; Directed by Stephen Scherer
  • January 20-21, 2017; Vintage Hitchcock, A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry; Directed by James Meehan
  • February 3-5, 2017; The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman; Directed by Dr. Jan De Sal
  • April 28-30, 2017; Little Shop of Horrors by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken; Directed by Maclain Looper
