No. 1 seed Colorado Academy Girls Lacrosse team took the State Title for a second year in a row after a 9-8 win during an exciting battle with the No. 3 seed Cherry Creek Bruins. It was the second time the two teams have played each other – they competed last year in the same championship battle.

 

The defending champs were down by one with under five minutes to play until junior Sydney Prokupek scored a goal, her 53^rd of the season. Other goals were scored by junior Claire Wright and sophomore Lauren Russell.

 

To date, the Mustangs have earned the state title 10 times: in 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 2000, 2015, and 2016. Click here to see photos from the game.
