CA Girls Take 4A State Golf Championship

Congratulations to the 2016 Colorado Academy Girls Golf Team, the Class 4A Girls State Golf Champions. CA took first place, beating out Cheyenne Mountain as its closest competitor. CA had a total score of +36, 52 strokes better than second place Cheyenne Mountain on this second of the two-day state tournament.

In individual scores, CA’s Caroline Jordann came in second place with a +6, Kacey Godwin tied for fourth place, and CA’s Cassie Kneen and Trinity Goderstad were among three players that tied for twelfth place. Says Director of Athletics Bill Hall, “The determination shown by these four CA golfers today was impressive. They won with a historical margin over the rest of the field and were fantastic battling a challenging course. They completely dominated the rest of the teams. The CA community should be proud of this group’s outstanding effort," says Hall.

Coach Beth Folson says about this team, "This is the best team in CA history. We were undefeated this year 8-0. We hope to extend that next year. We ended Cheyenne Mountain's streak of three in a row; The girls really challenged each other and made each other better. We return everyone except Kacey (who will be playing at Whitman next year) and look forward to having another outstanding team."

The Girls Golf team last took the state title in both 2007 and 2008 with an individual state champion also in 2008.
