CA Mock Trial Teams Wrap Up Season at State

The Colorado Bar Association hosted the annual State Mock Trial Tournament April 1 and 2 in Pueblo.  Colorado Academy’s two A-teams litigated the case of Colorado v. Tory Clark, a first-degree murder case.  The state tournament was the culminating event of a five-month season.  Both A-teams participated in the Denver Regional Tournaments, earning second and third-place finishes that allowed them to advance to State.

Eighteen students took part in four trials over two days, earning praise from both judges and panelists, alike.  Senior Clara Petch took home an award for best attorney along with Seniors Chloe Nosan and Martie Baker for best witness.

Thank you and congratulations to CA's attorney coaches who volunteer their time to work with the students including, Maribeth Younger, Francis Barron, William Carey, Bill Niles, Kirk Ingebretsen, Doug Beck, Mark Grueskin, Victoria Sharp, Kyle Hall, Andres Guevara, Byeongsook Seo, and John Funk.

This month, Lakewood High School advances from Colorado’s State Tournament to Nationals. Only 48 teams will advance and compete in the National Championship Tournament.  These 48 teams will be divided into two "divisions" of 24 teams each.  The first-place teams from each will face off in the 32nd American Mock Trial Association’s National Championship Final Round set for April 15-17 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
