Upcoming Conferences & Grade Reports
As conferences approach, we welcome the opportunity for you to meet with your child’s advisor to discuss this year’s academic and social progress, and to preview next year’s course registration. We ask that all ninth and tenth graders attend these conferences, and certainly eleventh and twelfth graders are welcome to attend as well. Please contact Andrea Eckler if you have any difficulty scheduling this conference through the on-line system. (In some cases, advisors will not be on campus on that day and will be making alternate arrangements directly with parents.)
I would also like to remind you about a reporting change made this year by the Upper and Middle Schools. Rather than full comments at the end of the second trimester, parents will learn what grade their child earned for this term, along with an overview of the material covered since the mid-trimester comment was sent. Students who are receiving a "C" or lower will also receive a brief written comment offering additional information. In some other cases, teachers may still provide a comment, especially if the final average reflects a substantial change from that of the mid-trimester report. Otherwise, there will be no personalized comment to the student. At the end of the third trimester, parents will still receive a full set of reports and comments.
We feel that this change in the reporting process makes the time spent with the advisor more valuable on March 11, and helps teachers with the very quick turn-around between trimesters two and three. In the two weeks between trimester two reports and the conference date, advisors will also be collecting any additional information that would be pertinent and timely for the conference.
If you would like more detailed information from a particular teacher, please know that you can reach out anytime; in general, you need not wait for reporting periods or conference times to make a call or send an e-mail to the classroom teacher.
