Fall Sports Awards Close 2015 Season

An already highly successful Colorado Academy fall sports season that saw outstanding performances in Boys Golf (sending four athletes to state,) Boys Tennis (winning state championships in No. 3 singles, No. 3 doubles, and No. 4 doubles), Boys Soccer (hosting the highly competitive state tournament rounds of 32 and 16 on Firman Field), Cross Country (for the first time in school history sending both boys and girls to state and finishing 20th and 5th, respectively), and Girls Volleyball (winning their last four matches of the season at the end of year Metro league Tournament) was punctuated by the Field Hockey Team winning its fourth State Championship trophy in as many years and the schools ninth state champion-

Richards says this year wasn’t about another championship. “To me it wasn’t about keeping the streak alive but rather playing to our maximum potential and having fun.”

Says Webster, “We had lost so many senior players [from last year] and, honestly, ... we were all in the mindset to just try and get through the season, let alone the playoffs. I hope that we have made the past captains and players proud with our win this year. Julia Murphy, Sterre Van Ede, even our coach Daan Polders, I wanted this so that they would be Thanks to Head Field Hockey Coach Veronica Scott and her staff of Julia Simmons ’11, Dora Bennett, Dimity Jaeger, Natalie Turnage, Liz Kissick, Lizzie Rockmore ’95, and Kate Van Cott should be commended for helping to continue Girls Field Hockey Team Finish: Fourth consecutive State Championship
