Students to Compete in Math Day Tournament at CSU

Fifteen Upper Schools students from Colorado Academy will compete this week in the annual Colorado State University Math Day. The Mathematics Department at CSU has hosted this college-bowl style tournament since 1977. The event attracts up to 400 of the best high school math students from Colorado and neighboring states. Among the events are a double-elimination tournament with three-member teams from 64 schools, as well as the PROBE test. PROBE stands for "Problems Requiring Original and Brilliant Efforts." It is a written test featuring challenging problems, the top 10 winners of which receive scholarship offers at CSU. CA students competing include Julia Kelly, Greg Cain, David Schurman, Zach Kasica, Hidai Olivas, Christina Bear, Cooper Bedin, George Younger, Jacob Abbott, Eric Bear, Heather Kurtz, Lauren Fossel, Rachel Kim, Ethan Jaszewski, and Alex Kim.
