Mustangs Make History with Fourth Consecutive Title Win

The Colorado Academy Mustangs made history tonight, October 31, 2015, when they became the first field hockey team in Colorado to win four consecutive state titles. The Mustangs defeated the Cherry Creek Bruins 1-0.

Senior Sammy Little scored the only goal for the night in the second half.

The Mustangs are both the first team to win the title four consecutive times, as well as to go to five straight state title games. In total, it’s the 14th trip to the state championship for the Mustangs, who competed in ’77,’92, ’93, ’97, ’98, ’04, ’05, ’06, ’07, ’11, ’12, ’13, ’14, ’15. The program has won 7 titles dating back to 1977: ’92, ’93, ’97, ’12, ’13, ’14.

Director of Athletics Bill Hall says, "I'm so fired up for this group. They worked so hard and persevered through some very challenging competitions; they have played some great teams. To have Sammy Little (who was injured last season) score the winning goal was just icing on the cake. I'm really happy for the team, and for Head Coach Veronica Scott. The support from the student body and the CA community has been phenomenal."
