Upper School Computer Science League Honors

Three Upper School computer programming students, George Younger (Grade 11), Ethan Jaszewski (Grade 10), and Zach Kasica (Grade 11) traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the National All-Star Contest of the American Computer Science League (ACSL). The boys completed a perfect score (40/40) on the more than three hour programming portion of the contest. After the one-hour advanced computer science topics multiple-choice test in the afternoon (includes electronic circuits, Boolean algebra, finite state automata, recursive functions, and assembly language, among other topics) the CA team finished sixth overall of 17 nationally qualifying teams, marking CA’s best finish yet in this competition. Two students, Zach and Ethan, both received honorable mention for their scores of 9 out of 12 on the MC portion of the contest.

Thank you to all the students who participated in the four ACSL contests throughout the school year. Students who competed in at least three of the four contests and/or attended the E-Day club training sessions are: Christina Bear, David Schurman, Julia Kelly, Brison Mondry, Eric Masinter, Justin Connerly, Michael Fuller and Jack Funk.
