Thank You, CA Parents

I have lots of favorites when it comes to annual traditions at Colorado Academy, but one that we held this week, honoring our parent volunteers, can’t be beat. That is because in the hustle and bustle of a busy school year, we often don’t have the luxury of stopping to reflect on how Colorado Academy becomes the center of families’ lives; how schedules and meals, volunteer work and extracurricular activities, how friendships and relationships are carefully molded around this hub of educating children. Every day, this is where children grow and learn, and where lives play out with all of the tender, messy, and memorable moments that come with raising and educating kids.
It is at the Parent Volunteer event where families who have been involved at CA for only a short time or for decades are honored, and where, after much thought and careful research, the Parent Association President shares conversations about what CA has meant to parents and their children.
As I listen to the stories, it is humbling to think about the thousands of hours of volunteer service parents commit to CA. We would not have the same wonderful community without the contract that parents make with one another -- to join together to work side by side with the school for the benefit of all of our kids.
Parent involvement at CA brings us numerous community events; it provides recognition for our faculty; and it offers support to those in need in our community. Whenever I walk around campus and run into a parent volunteer, I am always met with smiles and an authentic expression of positive engagement in the life of the school. It is because of your shared commitment to CA and its values that our children see and realize your dedication, contribution, and engagement in their learning. Thank you to Liz Little, our Parent Association President, for her tremendous work and leadership this past year, as well as the PA executive committee, division and class representatives, committee chairs and all the volunteers for all that you do for CA.
