We’re just two weeks away from the start of AP testing. Students in the 14 different AP courses we offer this year will be taking their three-hour exams beginning May 4. During the two-week stretch of AP exams, our policy on attendance is that a student may be excused from other classes on the day of an AP exam; however, students should always check with the classroom teacher of a class or classes that they might be missing. It may be in the student’s best interest to attend a class if the material being presented will be hard to replicate. Teachers and students need to communicate directly and effectively, and everyone must be flexible during this busy academic time. Additionally, seniors in AP classes are not expected to do anything more in those classes after completion of their scheduled exam. Thus, for example, all students in AP Statistics will be finished with that class after the May 13 afternoon exam. On the other hand, juniors who take AP exams are expected to continue attending those courses, even after the exam date has passed. Teachers of those courses will continue to work with students on papers and projects; part of a student’s trimester grade for those classes will be directly related to completion of this last portion of the course. However, those students will not have an additional exam during our final exam period (May 19-21). The schedule for AP exams is as follows:
