CA Bball Takes Second Place Trophy

In the thrilling fight for the 3A state title, Colorado Academy lost to Colorado Springs Christian in a close game, 55–52. This marks the second consecutive year the Mustangs have made it to the state title game only to come home with the second place trophy.

At halftime, the Mustangs were down 29-14 with CSCS junior Samuel Howard as leading scorer. Returning from the locker room, the Mustangs picked up the momentum and closed the Lion’s lead to 31-24 with an opening 10-2 run. It was later answered with a 9-0 run from the Lions, bringing the score to 42-29 by the end of the third.

The Mustangs came back big in the fourth quarter and CA junior Justin Bassey, who averages 23.8 points per game, hit his third three-point shot of the fourth with less than a minute to go, but it wasn’t enough to land the boys the state title.

It’s been a great season for the Mustangs (20-7) and we applaud their hard work! Great job, Mustangs! Here’s to next year!
