CA Student to Compete in "World Series of Math"

Colorado Academy junior George Younger has been named to the top Colorado (A1) team for the 2015 ARML competition at UNLV in Las Vegas, May 29-31, 2015.  The American Regions Mathematics League's annual competition brings together students from across the U.S. to compete using their mathematical skills.

Since its inception in 1976, ARML has grown into a national program, involving nearly 2000 students and teachers from almost every state. ARML is known as the “World Series” of mathematics competitions.

The 2015 competition will mark the third consecutive year that Younger has represented CA at the competition. The match consists of several events, including a team round, a power question (in which a team solves proof-oriented questions), an individual round, two relay rounds (in which a contestant solves a problem and passes his/her answer to another team member, who uses this answer to solve another problem), and a super relay. In all, about 120+ teams will participate. A team consists of 15 students. His A1 teammates include students from Fairview, Fossil Ridge, Cherry Creek, Peak to Peak Charter, Rock Canyon, Alexander Dawson, Highlands Ranch and Niwot high schools. “This is a tremendous achievement for George,” says CA math teacher Peter Horsch.
