Former Colorado Academy Student, George Rodney, Performs Winning Run in Freeride World Tour
Goerge Rodney, who attended Colorado Academy from 1998 to 2010, recently ran the winning line in the Freeride World Tour (FWT) Fieberbrunn event in Vallnord-Arcalis, Andorra.
The FWT is an annual series of events in which the best freeskiers and snowboard freeriders compete for individual wins across the globe by maneuvering through backcountry on dangerously steep, mountainous slopes.
Twenty-one year-old George, who is coached by ‘87 CA alum Chris Carson, completed the only run of the day that earned more than 80 points. He performed a super technical line in very rocky, no-fall terrain.
Andorra was the third stop in the Freeride tour. George, who placed fourth in the previous stop—also in Andorra—is now first place overall on the tour.
Look for George at the next stop, which will be in Alaska in the Freeride Mekka of Haines on March 14, with a nine-day weather window.
