Colorado Academy Boys and Girls Basketball Heads to State

Both Colorado Academy boys and girls varsity basketball teams won in the Metro League Tournament tonight. The No. 4 seed Colorado Academy Girls Varsity Basketball team beat the No. 5 seed Jefferson Academy 42-37, and the No. 2 seed CA Boys Varsity Basketball team beat the No. 7 seed Peak to Peak 89-50.
 
Both the boys and the girls will go on to compete against Lutheran High School on Thursday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively, at Manual High School.
 
Mustangs Basketball has been making headlines this year. Point guard and Colorado Academy junior, Justin Bassey was among the 3A players named as a Player of the Year candidate by MaxPreps. The 3A leader in scoring at 26.2 points per game also averages 9.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
 
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Meghan Peregord, the girls are led by senior captains Marin McCoy and Sammy Kelley, along with junior captain Heather Kurtz. McCoy, who is committed to Swathmore College, an NCAA Division III school in Pennsylvania, recently hit her 1,000th career basketball point for the Mustangs.
