CA Mock Trial Team Headed to State

Colorado Academy’s Mock Trial “A” Team is headed for the State Tournament next month in Colorado Springs after a strong performance at Regionals this weekend. CA had four teams compete in regionals, the largest representation from the school in the history of the Mock Trial program.
 
The State Tournament will take place at the El Paso County Judicial Building in Colorado Springs on March 20-21, 2015. This year’s case is a fictitious criminal matter in, “the People of the State of Colorado vs. Taylor Styles, Defendant.”
 
Other CA awards from Regionals included a Colorado Bar Association “Professionalism Award” given to CA’ s “C Team,” an award for Best Attorney to CA’s SunHee Seo, and awards for Best Witness to CA’s Eric Bear and Katie Fink.
 
The CA faculty sponsor of the program is Upper School history teacher Luis Terrazas. Attorney-coaches included Byeonsook Seo of Gordon & Rees, LLP; Scott Reisch, partner at Hogan Lovells; Kirk Ingebretsen of Sander, Ingebretsen & Wake, PC; William Carey of William C Carey, P.C; Victoria Sharp, criminal prosecutor and chief deputy DA for the Second Judicial District; and Maribeth Younger of CapitalValue Advisors/Silvercloud Companies; as well as Doug Beck, who has more than 20 years of experience as partner in a major international law firm.
