Colorado Academy Welcomes Turkish Exchange Students

A group of eight Turkish students from the Üsküdar American Academy (ÜAA) in Istanbul, Turkey will arrive at Colorado Academy for two weeks on January 18, 2015 as part of the first year of an exchange between the two schools. The students will stay with CA host families.

The Head of School, Eric Trujillo, a Colorado Native, and Ediz Kaya, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator, will accompany the students while in Denver.

The group of ninth and tenth grade students are part of the IB program at UAA and have varied interests, including photography, badminton, math and literature.

During their stay, they will attend classes at CA, go skiing, and tour Denver, visiting The University of Denver and The University of Colorado at Boulder.

Their visit is the second in a three-part exchange between the two schools. The first took place in October 2014 when four high school teachers from ÜAA visited CA to learn more about our school. The final part will take place in late March when CA students, who applied and were accepted into the program, will travel with Upper School English teacher and Exchange Coordinator Tom Thorpe and Upper School Principal Dr. Jon Vogels to Istanbul.
