Top 10 Things I Am Looking Forward to in January 2015

Jon Vogels
Yes, a top 10 list, but not a satirical one a la David Letterman!  These are things I am anticipating eagerly when we return to school in 2015:

1. An "alumni panel" in which current college freshmen and sophomores dispense wisdom to our current juniors and seniors. (Their most frequent advice: "relax about the college process.")
2. Visiting author Madeline Levine, whose books Teach Your Children Well and The Price of Privilege have much to say about the current fast pace of modern society and its impact on our kids' emotional health.
3. Putting together an exciting curriculum guide with several new course offerings for the school year 2015-2016.
4. Reading through applicant files for admission into the Upper School next year.
5. Ongoing exciting content and discussion in my Contenporary Voices of the Middle East course, including welcoming two guests: Palestinian author Ibtisam Barakat and DU Professor and Judaic scholar Adam Rovner.
6. A production of "Talking with . . . " in the Basement Theatre.  This will be one of Angel Vigil's final creative endeavors for us.
7. Basketball games and swim meets.
8. The annual "mini-retreat" for this year's Community Leadership Team.
9. Winterfest 2015 (Jan 31)!
10. Our second full Service Learning Day (Jan. 28).

Much to be grateful for and much to look forward to.  Have a great vacation, everyone!
