A New Record for H.O.P.E.

Colorado Academy's Students H.O.P.E., the school's largest club, and CA's most ambitious student-run service project hit a new record today as students and other volunteers served 1,761 people in a single day, providing transportation, clothing, toiletries, holiday gifts, flu shots, food, and pictures with Santa.

Guests began lining up at the gymnasium before 7 a.m. The doors opened at 8:30 a.m., and students welcomed a steady stream of families until the doors closed at 2 p.m. The 21st annual Students H.O.P.E. helps those in need during the holiday season. Mild weather and record donations helped to boost this year's event to one for the record books. A new element this year was a "reading corner" where children could read and where they could select a book to keep from stacks of donated children's titles.

CA seniors and co-leaders Caroline Reisch and Carrie Fritzinger put together a team of volunteers who have worked since last year to organize and manage the huge event. Congratulations, students, and thank you for your service to the community.
