Keeping up With the CA Conversation

Michael Davis, Ph.D.
You may have noticed a shift this year in how we are working to keep the Colorado Academy community informed about news on campus. While we have held true to our traditional forms of weekly and monthly communication via email and print newsletters, respectively, we have also put more effort into our presence on our website and on social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and more.

Why should we be concerned about a presence there? One of the timeless adages in communication is about the importance of understanding your audience. We know our audience of parents and students who care about education are increasingly online, linked in, and socially engaged.  And we know that our relevance as an organization is measured in part by how we engage in current conversations; many, many of those are taking place online.

Wondering what you’ve missed? In any given month, there are dozens of posts on Facebook about alumni winning college hack-a-thons to students making prototypes in the innovation lab, and from teachers’ honors to service learning by our students. On Twitter, you’ll find sports scores, stories, photos, and more – all in the per-tweet limit of 140 characters.  Check out the photos on Colorado Academy’s Instagram feed—indeed a photo is worth 1,000 words. And then there’s Pinterest. There you’ll find student artwork, book reviews, CA’s  college matriculation, at-home science projects, even a list of books that our teachers say will change the way that they teach.

Link to all of these below, or at any time via links in the lower right corner of our website’s home page, via the social media hub on the CA Now page on the web, which pulls all of these social media channels into one, easy-to-access place.
