Regarding: A Meeting to Discuss Next Year’s Leadership Focus and our September Outward Bound Trip

 

Please join me for a meeting on Wednesday, May 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the Middle School Community Room. The eighth grade faculty has crafted a Life Skills and Leadership Program for next year that we believe will be a meaningful learning experience for your children. The focus of our meeting will be two fold. I will share the broad outline of our advisory program next year and, in particular, about our Eighth Grade Outward Bound Leadership Retreat.

 

This overnight leadership development trip in Leadville, Colorado will depart campus on Wednesday, September 17, and return Friday, September 19. We have been working with Outward Bound to craft what we believe will be the right combination of leadership and communication skill development, and authentic challenge.

 

Because the trip is early in the year, I want to offer a chance to meet with parents, talk about the trip and our emphasis on leadership development broadly, and answer any questions you may have. After the meeting, I will send out a meeting summary and necessary medical and permission forms which will need to be completed and sent directly Outward Bound by mid-summer.

 

I look forward to sharing some of our big ideas for next year and about what should be a wonderful way to begin the year for our future Middle School leaders. If you have any questions or if I can be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me.
