Big Week Coming
Three major programs are enjoying culminating experiences this week, marking one of the most exciting showcase weekends in recent memory.
The men’s varsity basketball team is heading to the Air Force Academy to play in the Elite 8 of the 3A state championship tournament. The team takes on Moffat County at 10:15 am Thursday. If successful that day, they will play again Friday night. The championship game is Saturday night at 6:00 pm. The mock trial team will also be competing this weekend, starting Friday at noon. CA’s top two teams won the regional tournament last month and will now advance to take on the best teams in the state. There are two rounds on Friday, at 12 noon and 3 pm and then another round Saturday morning. Also, the CA-Curious Theatre connection that fosters young playwrights will bring 20 authors’ original works to the stage on Sunday and Monday nights. In a program called
TWISTED FATE, CA students offer “new 10-minute plays that explore how a quirk of luck can change everything. These plays act as thematic companion pieces to Curious Theatre Company's mainstage production of Good People by David Lindsay-Abaire.”
The start time is 7:00 pm both nights. Curious brings in professional actors to do staged readings of these plays, with half of the authors’ works presented one night, and the other half on the other night. There is a suggested $10 donation at the door.
This is the ninth year that CA has collaborated with the Curious Theatre, under the direction of Dee Covington and Betsey Coleman. Curious Theatre is located at 1080 Acoma Street in Denver, Colorado. That's just one block west of Broadway, on Acoma at 11th Avenue.
