The College Conundrum

Mike Davis
Book author and leadership expert David P. Campbell wrote a book titled, If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going, You’ll Probably End Up Somewhere Else. The book is about finding a career AND a life.  As educators today, we know that we are preparing students for careers and lives that we can’t yet predict or imagine. What we do know is that whatever your children face, their careers, income, relationships, and life decisions have a greater propensity for success if they have a quality education.

A recent study by the Pew Research Center, (click here for the NPR story) which took into account income and unemployment among young people, showed that while education--in particular, college--costs a lot, a life without an education will cost you more.

At CA, 100% of our students go on to attend four-year colleges and universities. This year, our College Counseling office reports that more than 80% of our students have already been accepted into one or more colleges through Early Decision or Early Action applications. (Regular decisions about college admissions do not come out until later this spring.)

Colorado Academy has always been a school that has helped students learn and grow through this complicated process. (Learn how by clicking here) We have some of the industry’s leading professionals in college guidance advising our students.  And, as students discover, a CA education affords them many options.

Says Campbell, “after interviewing hundreds of people about their hopes and plans, and from surveys of thousands of people about their careers, I have learned that what most people want out of life, more than anything else, is the opportunity to make choices.” That is the road to “Somewhere.”
