CA Field Hockey Wins Repeat State Championship

Congratulations to the Colorado Academy Field Hockey Team for winning the 2013 State Championship Title, its second in as many years. The girls had another phenomenal season under the leadership of Coach Daan Polders; they entered the finals with a 16-0 record for the season.

Going into the finals, CA and Kent Denver received the top two seeds in the brackets. In a rematch of last year’s state championship, CA beat Palmer Ridge in the semi-finals, and Cherry Creek knocked out Kent Denver.

Going into the championship game, the Mustangs had won seven of the previous eight match-ups against Creek, including a 3-1 victory on September 25. The first goal in the opening minutes of the game came from junior Henley Hall. Julia Murphy, also a junior, scored the second point. Both goals remained unanswered by Creek.

Before the game, CA's own Fratelli boys choir, under the direction of Cindy Jordan, sang the National Anthem.
