More reasons to be proud of our students this week

Jon Vogels
There are always numerous reasons to feel lucky to work at a place like Colorado Academy, with such amazing faculty, staff and students all around.  This week students made me particularly proud in the following ways:
1. Philanthropy Board students from both Upper and Middle School led the effort to collect dozens of boxes of canned goods, coats, bedding, toiletries, and other supplies for flood relief.  Service director David Colodny traveled to Longmont with two students to deliver the goods personally.
2. Service work all over the city on Wednesday, including freshmen "putting the garden beds to bed" at various Denver parks.
3. Juniors participating wholeheartedly at a Ropes Course in Littleton--their advisors did, too!
4. Seniors having a blast on a scavenger hunt through downtown Denver.  The Instagram photos and captions were artistic and often hilarious.
5. A great presentation at Town Hall by the students who went on the Senegal trip this past summer.
6. Freshmen working with poet Ken Arkind on their own poetry as part of the Global Perspectives course.
7. Several students developing new projects in the Innovation Lab (more on these in a future blog).
8. A batch of good essays in my Modernism course.
9. Three golfers competing hard at the state tournament in Pueblo.
10. All three singles teams and all four doubles teams qualifying for the state tennis tournament next week.

I am sure I could come up with 10 more but the point is it was a good week, Friday's winter weather notwithstanding!
