Guests and Special Events

Jon Vogels
What a week . . . we packed a lot of activity into four days! Several guests graced our campus, including playwright Lydia Diamond, who discussed her recent Broadway hit Stickfly (produced by Alicia Keys) and her collaboration with 49 other playwrights at a festival in Baltimore. After visiting several classes and addressing our Faces of Diversity students, she gave an evening address that night at the Su Teatro on Santa Fe. Also visiting that same day was Professor Adam Dovner of the University of Denver. In an entertaining and informative lecture to the two Contemporary Voices of the Middle East classes, Prof. Rovner described “how nation relates to narration” as he explained the way the development of the Hebrew language paralleled the growth of nationalism amongst Jews living in Europe in the late 19th, early 20th century.

CA was also excited to host Gabriel Rshaid of St. Andrew’s School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That school, which our Spanish teacher Andres Roblero visited in the fall, will be CA’s partner in a new exchange program starting in June. Three of our students will be headed to St. Andrew’s in June and three of their students will come to Colorado next school year. I have been greatly impressed with what I have learned about the school both from Mr. Roblero and directly now from Mr. Rshaid. I look forward to the start of an exciting new opportunity.

Next week the school will welcome renowned psychologist and author Ned Hallowell to campus, followed by astronaut Col. Eileen Collins the week after that. See the announcements portal for more details.
