Like other CA families, today's arrival of the email detailing the start of school brought great excitement in our home. An excursion was made to an office supply store, and now my children are excitedly decorating their notebooks and organizing colored pens and pencils. It is the kind of enthusiasm I love to see both as a parent and teacher. I was always a pretty strong student, but I can't say that I ever got that excited about the start of school! Yet, it is a refrain I hear from a lot of CA parents: "My child always looks forward to going to school everyday." Ultimately, that is what we should be striving for as an educational institution. As a teacher, there is really no reason not to have a meaningful and rewarding class everyday. There is so much to teach, and that learning should be full of as much joy as possible. “There is real magic in enthusiasm,” said author Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. “It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment.”
