Colorado Academy basketball coach Lee Gibson is a 2012 recipient of a National Sportsmanship Award, an honor and annual awards event hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission designed to celebrate “all that is right in sports.” Said the Commission, “The class, compassion and character you and your team showed in Kaylee McBeth's appearance for Faith Christian Academy embody the gestures and of acts of sportsmanship we seek to recognize. We would be thrilled to honor you - and have you represent Colorado Academy - at the National Sportsmanship Awards in St. Louis on Saturday night, November 17, 2012.” The game for which Gibson is being honored took place in February when the Colorado Academy Women’s Basketball team helped an opponent make the shot that counted during the only game of her high school career.
