BBall Teams Chalk Up Playoff Wins
The Colorado Academy Women’s Varsity Basketball Team is celebrating the first playoff win for the team in more than ten years. The team won in double overtime, 46-42, against Kent Denver on February 18. CA hosted the first round of the Metro League District Basketball Tournament. The team and coach Lee Gibson are scheduled to be profiled on Channel 9 News Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 10 p.m.
The CA Men's Varsity Basketball Team won its 1st round District 4, 3A game Saturday vs. KIPP Academy, 68-32. The Mustangs never trailed in the game and were led by the hot hand of senior Brad Klump who had 17 points on the day. Also contributing were fellow seniors Sam Fink with 10 points and David Munger who scored 9 points. The Mustangs seem to be hitting their stride as they move on in the playoffs. All 10 Mustang players saw significant time. Seniors CJ Clinkscales, Woody Sims, Taz Walker, and Nick Taylor were also instrumental in the victory. The Men's team will travel to top seed Faith Christian on Tuesday for its second round matchup.
