Girls Swim Team Takes Intrastate 8

Headed into the home stretch of this year’s season, the Colorado Academy girls swim team won the Intrastate 8 meet on January 14. The final relay decided the outcome of the overall meet, with CA winning the relay and thus the competition. “It was insane,” said swimmer Bailey Fritzinger, confirming both the tough competition and the first-ever win for Colorado Academy of the Intrastate 8.

The event is a long-standing tradition as eight teams come together to compete: Westminster/Skyview, St. Mary’s, Kent Denver, Heritage, Cherry Creek, Platte Canyon, Englewood, and Colorado Academy.

Unlike many high school sports, there is no regional competition to determine state qualifiers. Instead, swimmers earn the right to go to state by matching or beating established qualifying standards. The girls have just three meets left before Conference Championships.
