Brothers Head to State Golf Match

Two Colorado Academy Upper School brothers, Sam and Tim Scherman, are both headed to the 3A Colorado State Golf Tournament in early October in Gunnison, Colorado. It is the first time either one has qualified for the season-ending competition. Sam, a senior, and Tim, a freshman, are following in the footsteps of their older brother Will Scherman (’09) who also qualified for state when he attended CA. Will now attends the University of Kansas. The October 3-4 state competition will be held at Dos Rios Golf Club.
CA Golf Coach Beth Folsom says she and Coach Bill Witt have enjoyed working with all the Scherman brothers. “They are talented golfers and, while they have some similarities, each has a unique set of skills. Sam excels in chipping and putting and Tim is a very good ball striker. Sam tends to be more outgoing and energized on the golf course where Tim is more reserved and serious during a round. Both, however, are very competitive and driven to succeed, and we have had a lot of fun coaching them,” she says.
